The Braddock Community Oven project was started in 2008. The original oven was initiated by Ray Werner. It was built with support from Mayor John Fetterman and the Braddock community. Since 2008, it has been used regularly for pizza nights, openings at UnSmoke Gallery and by a number of Pittsburgh chefs and bakers. This summer, we welcome the construction of a larger outdoor bread oven – capable of supporting more community participation and producing many more loaves of bread. The original oven will remain intact. Both ovens are located along Braddock Avenue, across from the Edgar Thomson Steel Mill in Braddock, Pennsylvania.
